Dmitry & Dmitry - echo of genealogical infinity

Painting, 2006, 30.5×40.2×0.1 cm

Description of the artwork «Dmitry & Dmitry - echo of genealogical infinity»

In the picture I portrayed my acquaintance, who had a great influence on my creative life and the formation of me as an artist. This is Dmitry Makarov, an employee of the press service of the Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in the Ryazan Region. Nature has endowed him with many talents - in addition to serving in the Ministry of Internal Affairs, he is engaged in: journalism, literary creativity, visual arts, playing music, he is also the creator of the informal literary project of the magazine "DEVOTION". Without a stretch, he can be called a modern Guillaume Apollinaire (poet, journalist, art and literary critic, one of the most influential figures in the European avant-garde of the early 20th century).

For two decades Dmitry has been engaged in many creative projects in Ryazan and other cities, uniting people of music, literature and art. In the middle of the first decade of the 2000s, he organized a whole series of my exhibition projects. Then I was not yet privy to the methods of organizing projects, the Internet, and the art of presenting oneself as an artist to the media. Dmitry Makarov introduced me to this world, teaching me various subtleties.

His methods were always distinguished by the peculiarity of ideas, as he called them "tricks". So, for example, at my personal exhibition "Painting of a Dream" at the Ryazan Drama Theater, which took place in 2006, he came up with several different art objects that were exhibited along with my paintings (I remember the hammer), he also prepared for the audience a treat - milk and pineapple (this symbolized a good sound sleep).

In 2010, at the collective exhibition "Ornamentalism-2010", he announced that for two hours Pervomaisky prospect (where the gallery was located) was renamed into ORNAMENTALISM Avenue. And journalists have always written and talked about this in their reports, but Dmitry always preferred "to remain in the shadows."

It was he who advised me in 2006 to create my own personal website, introducing me to programming geniuses. That's what I did - my site has been around for over 13 years! Also invaluable is his contribution to my acquaintance with the famous multilingual Moscow polyglot poet Willie Melnikov. FROM
which in 2007 our joint press conference took place and his already legendary reading of my picture "The Little One" in ancient languages and dialects. Later, with Willie, we carried out several more joint art projects: I exhibited paintings, and Willie read poetry in their signs and symbols, calling me a latent polyglot ...

In gratitude to Dmitry Makarov, I painted his portrait. The strange name symbolizes his family, in which Dmitry's father is Dmitry and Dmitry's son is also Dmitry. My picture has become a symbol of this wonderful tradition and a wish for him and his entire family of continuation and well-being. Also in the picture I wished him travels - I depicted the sea and the ship at the horizon. By an interesting coincidence, when Dmitry and his family went to Turkey and saw a local natural landmark - pamukkale. He compared it to my style - ornamentalism. And in the portrait itself there are elements of patterns that are very reminiscent of this natural miracle ...
