Juno and Avos

Painting, 2010, 65×83×0.1 cm

Description of the artwork «Juno and Avos»

Painting "Juno and Avos", 65x83cm, oil on canvas, 2010 p., Author - Alexey Akindinov.

My picture "Juno and Avos" is dedicated to the rock-opera of the same name by Alexei Rybnikov, who is one of my favorite composers. The libretto was written by Andrei Voznesensky, impressed by real events - the love story of the traveler Nikolai Rezanov and Conchita Arguello. The rock opera was staged by director Mark Zakharov on the stage of the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater. 37 years have passed since the premiere, and all these years it has been with great success on the stage.

The central part of the composition of my painting is dedicated to the main characters - Nikolai Rezanov and Conchita Arguello. Their roles in the performance were brilliantly performed by Nikolai Karachentsov and Elena Shanina. I was very impressed by the plot of the poem by Andrei Voznesenky, based on which the performance was staged, it is about great love, there are no distances and barriers for it, there are no age restrictions, it has the theme of faith and service to the Fatherland. The most important thing for me in "Juno and Avos" is the power of love and fidelity that the main character carried through her whole life.

The plot of the picture is written in my style of ornamentalism, all the figures are made up of hand-drawn patterns by me, the composition contains scenes from the premiere of the play, which took place in 1981. You can also see a fragment of the exterior of the Moscow Lenin Komsomol Theater.

After I painted the picture "Juno and Avos" in 2010, it was transferred to director Mark Anatolyevich Zakharov and is now in the collection of his daughter Alexandra.
