Description of the artwork «Lenin in January. Lenin and children»
From the 2013 press release about the painting "Lenin in January":
"To Lenin's Birthday.
Ryazan patterns of big and small Lenin.
Ornamental artist Alexei Akindinov completed work on the painting "Lenin in January".
The Ryazan artist revealed the well-known theme of the fine arts of the Soviet period "Lenin and the Children" in his own way. The idea arose on the eve of the New Year holidays. Work on the sketch and painting lasted about four months. The plot contains innocent humor: Lenin appears before us in the role of a kind Grandfather Frost, giving gifts to children, and Christmas tree decorations-balls are at the same time "Ilyich's Bulbs". The color palette of the painting is designed in the style of the "old masters", which gives it the sound of a bygone era and a carefree childhood gone. Lenin is depicted twice on the canvas; his second image is a curly-haired boy - Volodya Ulyanov, carrying a toy locomotive. Ornamentalism, the style in which Alexey has been working for more than seventeen years, is revealed in this work through snowflakes that symbolically emphasize the New Year's theme.
For the first time, the painting will be shown to the Ryazan audience at the reporting Regional Art Exhibition "Spring 2013", which will open on April 23 at 16.00 in the Exhibition Hall of the Ryazan branch of the Union of Artists of Russia. The exhibition will feature works by both young and venerable masters of fine arts, known in Ryazan and beyond.
