Description of the artwork «Space workshop (right part of the diptych "Worlds of Tsiolkovsky")»
"Space workshop" from the diptych "Worlds of Tsiolkovsky", 100x150 cm, oil on canvas, 2016-2017 Author - Alexey Akindinov.
Since early childhood, the theme of space has attracted me. While studying at a secondary school in Ryazan, for one of the carnivals, my mother sewed me a stargazer costume and he won first place in the competition. As a teenager, I was very fond of astronomy, built my telescopes, observed the starry sky, kept an astronomical diary with sketches of planets and their satellites. He built model rockets, launched them into the sky on a vacant lot. I dreamed of building an observatory and a rocket that could lift me into the air.
If I were not an artist, I would definitely become an astronomer. This hobby left a big imprint on my work, which was embodied first in student works at the children's art school, and then at the Ryazan Art School. In 1997, I wrote the first piece of my big Stargazers series. In 1998, I defended my thesis on this topic with excellent marks.
In the 21st century, I have some works dedicated to the founders and pioneers of the space route - Yuri Gagarin and Konstantin Tsiolkovsky.
My diptych "The Worlds of Tsiolkovsky" with the paintings "Along the Rainbow" and "Space Workshop" are dedicated to the famous Russian self-taught scientist, inventor, founder of theoretical cosmonautics Konstantin Eduardovich Tsiolkovsky, my fellow countryman, a native of Ryazan province.
In the painting "Space Workshop" I depicted Konstantin Eduardovich in my workshop. I connected two worlds in the plot - the environment of the scientist, his life, his scientific developments, models and experimental samples, all of this is in the room. Outside the windows you can see a provincial landscape with one-story houses and trees. And at the same time, the walls of the workshop are absent - they are turned into outer space with stars, galaxies and planets. This is Tsiolkovsky's fantasy world, where his thoughts were, where he flew away in his dreams. It was not for nothing that he said: "The planet is the cradle of the mind, but you cannot live in the cradle forever." In the diptych "The Worlds of Tsiolkovsky" I tried to depict not the documentary life of the scientist, but his dreams, fantasies, which originated on the Ryazan land more than 160 years ago, and in the modern world have stepped far beyond the gravity.
I wrote this diptych as part of the Ryazan art project, I love you! The works were exhibited at numerous exhibitions held by the organizers of the project, in particular in the Pronsky, Zhelannovsky local history museums and the State Museum-Reserve of S.A. Yesenin in Konstantinov and in the Yesenin Center in Moscow.
