Peony is an amazingly beautiful flower! It has been known to the culture for over 2000 years! It was named after Peony, a disciple of the ancient Greek physician Aesculapus. Nowhere was the peony more beloved than in China. There, it was the "cure-all" plant. Peony in the East is a symbol of prosperity, well-being and wealth. In European horticulture, however, it came later, only in the 16th century and caused a stir. In Russia, peonies first appeared in the St. Petersburg Botanical Garden in the second half of the 19th century.
By the way, in the East, it is believed that flowers in paintings have the same power as living ones!
