Presumed portrait of the artist's wife resting

It most certainly refers to the artist's wife, whom he often depicted in bed, resting. On the reverse of this drawing on heavy paper is a handwritten text, probably taken from a history book, in not easily legible handwriting, dealing with "early man" and his customs; it is probably not in Dehodencq's handwriting, but perhaps that of his wife or one of his children.
