Harry Wilson Watrous (September 17, 1857 - May 10, 1940) was an American painter who received his academic training in France. His paintings included genre scenes, stylized works, landscapes, nocturnes, portraits, and still lifes . He is best known for his enigmatic paintings of sophisticated ladies, often dressed in dark outfits and depicted in profile.
