Artist Alexander Ivanovich Savin was born in October 1949 in the city of Tula. He began to draw in early childhood, practiced in the evening art studio of the House of Culture "Sickle and Hammer". After serving in the Soviet Army, he entered the Yaroslavl Art School, which he graduated from in 1975. After graduating from the art school he was sent to work in the city of Vologda.
Since 1974 the artist has been participating in exhibitions. Personal exhibitions of the artist were held in Vologda, Moscow, Finland and Germany.
In 1980 Alexander Savin became a member of the Union of Artists of the RSFSR, and in 2006 Alexander Ivanovich was awarded the title of Honored Artist of Russia.
Currently the artist lives and works in the city of Vologda.
