Description of the artwork «Portrait of Meda Primavesi»

The late period of Klimt's work is called the "flowering style." The paintings show a distinct influence of oriental motifs, and the motley, almost acidic color scheme recalls the works of Van Gogh and Matisse. Portraits of Eugenia and Meda Primavezi belong to this period.

In 1912, the banker, industrialist and philanthropist Otto Primavezi first ordered Klimt to paint a portrait of his daughter Meda. A year later, the artist performedportrait of her mother - actress Eugenia Primavezi.
