According to documents from 1536 Orsi worked in Reggio Emilia, where he was invited to decorate the triumphal arches erected in honor of the entry of Ercole II d'este. In 1546 he was accused of involvement in the murder of count Boiardi, he was expelled from Reggio, and took refuge in Novellara from Alfonso and Camillo Gonzaga, which in 1553 he made a trip to Venice and then to Rome. The fragments executed in the time of the frescoes in the Rocca di Novellara (linemode, the Pinacoteca Estense). In Rome the artist was from December 1554 to October, 1555 (fresco in Oratorio del Gonfalone). In 1561-1562 Orsi creates frescoes in the Church. Santamaria del Carmine in novellara (killed in 1773). In 1567, he is again at Reggio, where in 1583 he bought the cartoons for the frescoes of the choir and the dome of the Church. Inproper, executed by F. Zuccaro (the cartoons may have been completed by procaccini Camillo). No document allows you to determine who was a teacher Orsi, apart from the mention of a certain Bernardino Orsi, probably the cousin of the artist, signed and dated work which (1501) preserved in the Cathedral of Reggio. Often Lelio Orsi, considered a pupil of Correggio; in any case, his work was marred by the recent works of Correggio, especially in the period between 1540 and 1555 ( "SV. Margarita", Cremona, Mountains. Museum; "the Nativity", Berlinda - LEM Museum), as well as works by Parmigianino and Mazzolari. The most significant effect on Orsi had, apparently, such artists as Giulio Romano and later Michelangelo. The only dated work by Arseto picture "Madonna della Chiara" (1569), stored in the Church of the same name in Reggio Emilia. He is also credited with grazeley frieze in the castle Querciola (Reggio Emilia). Among the works, evidence of his rare talent, prone to distortion, a strange flicker and genuine Mannerist poetry, should be called "Battle of St. George with the dragon" (Naples, Capodimonte), "Abraham's Sacrifice" (ibid.), "Christ at Emmaus" (London, NAT. Gal.). His frieze drawings are kept in Paris (Louvre), Florence (Uffizi), Lille (musée des Beaux-arts) and Besancon (Museum of fine arts).
