Worked in the estate Neronova belonging to the family Cherepenin, about 25 km South-East of Moscow.

Discovered and identified 17 portraits. All of them depict members of the family Cherepenin, their relatives and neighbors, such as nobles Lermontov, who lived near Neronova, in the estate of Surovtseva. All the portraits were restored in the 1970s in Moscow and returned to Moscow, where they are stored in the local history Museum. Presumably, Grigory Ostrovskiy came from Great Ustyug, where he received his artistic education, including icon painting. The artist was also likely familiar with the work of the Moscow artist-portraitist F. Rokotov.
