Description of the artwork «Jupiter and Ganymede»

Ganymede is, according to Greek mythology, a handsome young man, son of the Trojan king Tros. Because of his beauty he was kidnapped by a Zeus eagle to Olympus, where he became the cupbearer at the feasts of the gods and the lover of Zeus. He was also granted immortality and eternal youth.
