He studied in the Kishinev art College. In 1956 he graduated from Moscow State art Institute. V. I. Surikov. Studied with S. V. Gerasimov. Participant of exhibitions since 1954 all-Union fame artist brought the thesis "the name of the revolution" and the work "of the Komsomol in 1941". Solo exhibition was held in 1963 in Moscow.

Born in the village of grass-roots in Tambov region. In 1935 he lived in Balashikha. In 1942, after high school, he enrolled in military school. In 1944 he went to the front. After demobilization he entered the philological Department of the Kishinev state University, simultaneously studied at the art school. In 1950, Mikhail Anikeev has attended the Institute named after V. I. Surikov. Next year in Sochi, held his first solo exhibition. In 1958 Anikeev became the laureate of the International festival of youth and students in Moscow. For the painting "the young Communists of 1941," was awarded the diploma and the diploma of the Komsomol Central Committee, the USSR Ministry of culture, Union of artists of the USSR.He was a member of the Presidium of the Moscow regional organization of Union of artists of Russia.
