1880 was Born in Riga.

1898-1899 Education in the Studio of L. Dmitriev-Kavkazsky in St. Petersburg. Up to 1920 in Saint-Petersburg and Moscow.

1902-1907 Illustrations for magazines homeland, "Star" and "Niva", to the works of Russian classics, cartoons to satirical magazines ("Zeitgeist" and others); posters.

From 1903 to participate in exhibitions.

1906-1917 Cooperation with the Moscow publishers I. by Sechinym and A. Stupin.

Since 1918 one of the founders and the leading masters of the Soviet political revolutionary poster.

In 1921 in Latvia. Drawings for Riga magazines.

1944 Died in Germany.

The artist also signed his works: A-t, ASP, A. Petrov, Osinin, Skiff.

Born into a family of workers.

1894. year, the seed moved to live in Saint – Petersburg, Alexander became interested in the art – copies of paintings by famous artists.

1898. – 1899. – studying in the art Studio of L. Dmitriev – Caucasian.

The denominator as a graphic print and books (the works were signed by the pseudonym Aspids, A. Petrovs, Čūska, Skits, Oseņevs)

In this time he lived in St. Petersburg and in Moscow and collaborated with the magazines "Rodina", "field", "Star" (1902. – 1906.), also worked in the publishers I. Sytin, A. Stupina and P. Soykina. Illustrated many works by A. Chekhov, I. Turgenev, M. Gorky, M. Saltykove–Schedrin and many other works of Russian classics.

1912. – illustrates the jubilee edition of Tolstoy's "War and Peace".

1913. – illustrates the first Russian children's encyclopedia.

One of the significant creators of the Soviet political poster, many Russian artists used creative principles A. Apsitis.

After the October revolution, began to draw a poster campaign (Def. 50 posters).

1921. – Returns to Latvia and works in the book drawing. Regularly drawings published in the journals "Jaunā nedēļa", "Atpūta", "Ilustrēts žurnāls", "Tautas žurnāls visiem", etc. Collaborated with the publisher A. Esenin, illustrated a series of books "Jaunības bibliotēka", created the design in many books ("Thousand and one night", 1924. – 1929.; Ya He Jansevskis "Homeland", 1925,...).

Painting painted large compositions ("Battle near Durbe").

Worked in applied graphics (ads, posters, holiday cards and wrappers factory V. Hugo).

His work is focused on a particular audience – realistic with the characteristics of the youth.
