Born February 18, 1909 in the town Serdobsk, Penza province into the family of the artist, real school teacher. The father became the first teacher of the future artist. Then he engaged in the art Studio the artists A. E. Hofert and N. V. Kuzmin. In addition to drawing and painting Vsevolod Bazhenov was fond of music, his mother Yevgenia was the pianist.

In 1927 and 1930 in Leningrad Vsevolod Bazhenov engaged in art-industrial College of the VHUTEMAS - VHUTEIN Dmitry Kiplik, Mikhail Avilov, Vladimir Fedorovich. Since 1934, Vsevolod Bazhenov works by the artist on the factory map, he participated in expeditions with geologists and geophysicists on the Northern and southern Urals, Armenia, Kurdistan, in the Khibiny mountains, Karelia, and write all the sketches from nature.

Since 1946, Vsevolod Bazhenov, member of the Leningrad Association of artists. Workshops the Partnership was housed in the "Soyuz-fur" on Moskovsky prospect. In a huge hall, divided by partitions, the artists worked. Together they not only painted pictures, but also together ate and had their simple economy in difficult post-war years.

Since 1951, Vsevolod Bazhenov participates in exhibitions. In the same year he was accepted as a member of the Leningrad Union of artists. Vsevolod Bazhenov paints landscapes, genre paintings and portraits. Most vividly picturesque talent of the artist was manifested in the nature study of small forms. His style is distinguished by mastery of the techniques of plein air painting, exquisite flavor, artistry of execution.

Particular theme in the artist's works form works, created in 1962 during sea passage on the ship - crabber "Eugene Nikishin" from Leningrad to Vladivostok around Europe and Asia with stops in ports of Gibraltar, Suez canal, Singapore, and Vietnam. During this voyage through eleven seas and oceans, which lasted more than three months, the artist has created nearly two hundred sketches, paintings and drawings.

These works of Vsevolod Bazhenov was shown in 1963 at his personal exhibition in Leningrad, and then in other cities of the country. All the years of the life of the artist has held about ten solo exhibitions of his works.

In the second half of 1950- early 1960-ies Vsevolod Bazhenov was led by a small group of Leningrad painters who made the paintings for the cabins companies to build ocean-going ships and submarines. With his participation was developed a special technology to protect the paintings from excess humidity in air in the conditions of long swimming.

From mid-1960-ies and in the course of twenty years, Vsevolod Bazhenov supervised the work of creative groups of artists in the House of creativity Staraya Ladoga.

A special place in the creative journeys of the artist belonged to the Republic of Karelia. For the first time, Vsevolod Bazhenov was here in 1931. In 1981, Vsevolod Bazhenov visited Valaam where he came at the invitation of the Museum-reserve. Since then and until the death of the artist Balaam was one of the main themes of his work. In 1984, on the island held a solo exhibition of paintings by Vsevolod Bazhenov, organized by the Museum. Its funds are kept many works of the artist made on Valaam.

Died Vsevolod Andreevich Bazhenov in Leningrad in 1986. Her works are in museums and private collections in Russia, France, USA, Germany and other countries. They repeatedly reproduced in catalogues of exhibitions and auctions of Russian art in France and Japan. A significant place in the works of Vsevolod Bazhenov given in the book by S. V.
