Honored art worker of Belarus (1991). Graduated from the Moscow art school named after 1905 (1940). He studied at MGHI them. V. I. Surikov (1945-1948). In 1943-1944 he took part in organizing and holding the first exhibition of Belarusian art in Moscow devoted to the 25 anniversary of the establishment of the BSSR.
Participated in the organization of the State art Museum of BSSR. Disciple and successor of the traditions of the belynichsky-Birulya, worked in his art Studio in Moscow and in the country "the Seagull." The participant of personal exhibitions in Minsk (1967, 1980, 1988, 1995, 2000), as well as in Belgium (1993), Italy (1996), Holland (1997). Works Barhatova A. S. are in the National art Museum of Belarus, Museum of modern fine art in Minsk, the museums of Mogilev, Grodno, Gomel, Smolevichi, Kastsyukovichy, the Tretyakov gallery in Moscow, etc.
