Evgenievich Baumgarten

Russia • 1867−1919

A native of St. Petersburg, the son of major-General, Director-1-th St. Petersburg military gymnasium. Graduated 1st cadet corps (1884). Successfully studied at the architectural classes of the Imperial Academy of arts (1885-1891). For the contest "Project of the Embassy house" received a small gold medal (1889). Upon graduation, he was awarded the title of class artist 1-th degree. Project Baumgarten in St. Petersburg for the building of the Museum of the Institute of engineers of ways of communication. Noteworthy of his work in related areas of art: sketches for decorative and ornamental brocade, designs of medals, cards for menus, posters. In the competition for a poster about the fundraising for the monument to P. I. Tchaikovsky (1894) received the second prize. Wrote watercolor Pavlovsk, Petersburg, interiors of palaces. Studied the teaching of the decorative arts in art and industrial schools of Switzerland and Germany (1895). Taught history of architecture at CUTR (1896-1904). The author of the project (1898) Kasli cast – iron pavilion- the pavilion Kyshtym mining district for WHPW in Paris (1900).
