Born in St. Petersburg, the son of the sculptor R. I. Bach. Initially studied with his father, and then received professional education in the Imperial Academy of arts (1870-1879). Awarded a small gold medal for policy work, "David throwing a stone" (1873), and his academic work (1877) was awarded the large silver medal. For graduation academic programme "Spring" (1879) received the title of artist 1st degree, for the statue of "the Oracle" (1884) – the title of academician. Performed portrait of Alexander III (bust of life size, 1881). In the years of study at the Imperial Academy of arts performed orders of small vases, candlesticks and ashtrays decorated with reliefs in a variety of styles, to bronze casting factory Nichols and plinke in St. Petersburg, where his father was the chief painter and Director. Seriously ill with pulmonary tuberculosis, N. R. Bach signed a contract with KCLS and in the summer of 1884 he went to the castle, where until his death worked as a factory sculptor, and had time to prepare for the rollout in the cast iron two dozen brought from St. Petersburg bronze models, among which was a considerable number of works of his father, the sculptor R. I. Bach. Resuming classes at school, opened by his predecessor – M. D. Kanaev and N. Bach taught work drawing and sculpting, the secret of obtaining thin-walled castings. He died and was buried in Calah.
