Painter, watercolorist. Son of Alexander Leontyevich Benois, the nephew of the architect Nicholas Leontyevich Benois, a close friend of watercolorist albert Nikolayevich Benois.

Formal art education is not received. From the 1870s he worked in St. Petersburg. Member and active Exhibitor (1889) of the society of Russian watercolors. Member of the Society for the encouragement of arts (1901). Wrote watercolor landscapes of St. Petersburg and its environs, Finland, the Baltic States, Ukraine, the Volga region, Central Asia, the Caucasus, Germany.
