From 1880 he served in the Ministry of agriculture; duty many traveled to Russia, was engaged in painting. In 1922, he was evacuated to Constantinople, came to the island of Lemnos, thence to France. In Paris he settled in the gallery L. Gerard, where he exhibited and sold landscapes. Favorite motifs of art was the Russian winter landscape and abandoned aristocratic parks and estates.
