Description of the artwork «Tram»

Most of my life Bogomazov held in Kiev. Since marrying Wanda Monastery in 1913 and until his death he lived in the house №18 on Voznesensky descent. The city the artist loved, and even if this would not be evidence from people who personally knew him, this clearly felt from the first glance at his paintings depicting the streets of Kiev, the roofs of the houses, market tram.

This is one of the facets of artistic vision Bogomazov: how much no nearer the depicted items to abstraction, transforming into geometric shapes and lines that are subordinate to the flawless rhythm, they still accurately read emotion laid down by the author.

From the "Kiev" Bogomazov paintings invariably emanates warmth. Think on these canvases is always spring. Looking at them, you begin to fully understand the words of the artist: "To experience means not only to see but to feel. This is the difference between a human and a photographic apparatus that sees, but doesn't feel".

In a letter to his wife Bogomazov lurid detail what exactly is the inspiration for this city: "Kiev in its plastic volume filled with beautiful, varied, deep and dynamic. Here the streets run in the sky, form, tense, and energetic line, they fall, crash, sing and play. The General pace of life further emphasizes this dynamism gives him, so to speak, legitimate, widely spreads around until they rest on the left coast of Dnepr".

These words are appropriate to describe the painting "Streetcar". Crazy city rhythm, rushing along the rails of the iron machine, people running away on his business – every line and dash used to reflect the swiftness of the everyday cycle. Even the size of the canvas is subordinate to this goal: for any other pictures people, did not choose painting as much rectangular shape – he was more drawn to the squares.

Written works from life on the street, which from 1937 to 2014, was named in honor of revolutionary thieves, and now she returned the historic name – Bulvarno-Kudryavskaya. Trams on it now, do not go. There is no longer the original building of the Kiev school of art, Alma mater Bogomazova – it was burned by the Germans during the retreat from Kiev, but after the war rebuilt.

Gone into oblivion long ago written off the scrap tramway continues to live on in the bright sunshine the picture. Still hear it rattling, which run up the sides of the gaping pedestrians.
