Painter, born in Riga; studied at St. Petersburg Imperial Academy of fine Arts and then in Paris.

In 1845-2 silver medal; 1854-the title of class artist. In 1855 he received the title of academician in St Petersburg, for the painting depicts a young widow with a child. Since then, he devoted himself to the genre; some of his paintings are located in Warsaw.
