Description of the artwork «Fish cutting»

USSR, 1957. Paper, watercolor, gouache. 24 X 34.5 (in the light). Signed lower left. Passepartout.

Vera Vart-Patrikova’s watercolors on the production theme, but this is not the harsh realism of Viktor Popkov and Tair Salakhov, we will not see powerful, self-confident hard workers with diligent hands or the scale of creation - the prospects of foundries, construction sites. Wart-Patricova’s watercolors are genre scenes in small productions that remained outside the framework of the first newspaper pages - cutting fish, sewing clothes in an atelier ... Heroes are women. Vera Vasilyevna’s watercolors are bright and restraintly warm in the south. Today we can say that this is “vintage”, if this term means high-quality works that have their own unique shades of aroma and taste of the time - 50-70 years.
