Vasilevich Vereshchagin

Russia • 1845−1877

The younger brother of the famous Russian artist V. Vereschagin. Born in Cherepovets, Novgorod province. He studied in St. Petersburg at the Drawing school OPKh. With artistic purpose traveled to the Caucasus (1864 – 1867). Later went to Paris, where much fruitful work in the private Studio of the famous French artist and teacher A. Jerome. Participated in the Russo - Turkish campaign (1877), was an orderly for the commander of the Russian army of General Mikhail Skobelev. Died heroically during the assault of Plevna August 30, 1877. He was posthumously awarded the George cross. Graphic and pictorial works of the artist almost did not survive.
