Born in the city of Kostroma. The participant of the great Patriotic war of 1941 – 1945 1945-1951 studied at the Moscow art Institute named after Surikov, Department of painting. Pupil Gerasimov, V. Favorsky, P. Pokarzhevsky. Master of landscape and scene composition. Diploma work – "I on the ship." In the fifties created a number of genre works, including the famous "Meeting of friends" (1957) and "the Guerrilla troopers" (1959). He taught at the Moscow art Studio for invalids of the great Patriotic war (1951 – 1954), Studio of arts and crafts. Exhibitor of art exhibitions in the USSR, Russia and abroad since 1948. The work of V. I. Gorsky, dedicated to the North, are in many art museums of Russia, CIS, private collections in the country and abroad.
