Born 8.11.1913. Leningrad painter Mikhail F. Grachev graduated from IR in 1948, running as a thesis (under the guidance of V. M. Konashevich) design and illustrations for "Word about Igor's regiment", and from 1951 his work began to appear in the Leningrad exhibitions. Upon completion of the thesis work, Grachev continued to develop in his work the subject of the aforementioned literary monument, creating a series of works in the technique of gouache, "the Word about Igor's regiment" (1949-50.).

Scrolling paintings of the artist, must be called also, "Storming the fortress of Izmail on December 11, 1790" (1953), "the old Gurzuf" (1954), "the Gloomy night" (1957), "Bouquet of wild flowers" (1958), "Centenary farmer V. R." (1958), "the Fisherman" (1961), "Pine" (1962), "the defense of Petrograd" (1964), "get out of the Komsomol for the defense of Petrograd" (1967), "The conversation about Lenin" (tempera, 1969).
