Born in the village (now city) of Upper Salda, Sverdlovsk region, in the family of a factory worker, a member of the Russian-Japanese, First world and Civil wars, who died in 1922 (mother died in 1929). Were brought up by relatives, participated in forest and field work. After three years in school, ran away from home and a few years besprizornichali, traveling around the country. After recovery he was transferred to the southern border, in October 1945, demobilized from the army.
In 1945-1947 he continued his studies in Krasnoufimsk pedagogical College. In 1946 he wrote from life your first ever landscape sketch in oil. I. E. Goodin specialized in the genre of the picturesque landscape (technique oil).
