In 1953 graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute. V. I. Surikov in the workshop
VP Efanova (thesis "on the Eve of the Morozov strike"). Also experienced the influence of another teacher
Institute Professor, a distinguished artist of the Soviet era V. G. Tsyplakova.
In 1962 he was admitted to the Union of Artists of the USSR. Personal exhibition of Sergey Gusev was held in 1987 in Moscow.
Works are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, the meeting of the Academy of fine Arts
(Saint-Petersburg).
