Description of the artwork «Bottle at the window»

"Bottle window" better known by the unofficial name "the Singing bottle". At the Studio one day Falk came his model and future wife Raisa Idelson saw this picture and exclaimed: "Yes this is singing bottles!".

Bottle (1, 2) is a favorite subject for still life Falk as the white Cup and white plate Cezanne who has had an enormous impact on the formation Falk.

Falk inclined in his still lifes to animate objects, and not by a complex symbolic and associative. Items Falk exist by themselves, not assuming any other context – except themselves. That is, the bottle in his paintings – not a symbol of the transience of life, not philosophical background of everything and other, other. This is the bottle, but its maximum fullness, that is to say, pristine image of the phenomenon. The art historian Dmitry Sarabyanov characterizes still life Falk as majestic. Every object in the paintings of the artist – exactly what it is, such as it was created in the beginning.

The spatial resolution of the "Singing bottle" not only focuses on the object of still life. In addition to the bottles at the window, we see the landscape outside the window, and the space in front of the table with the bottles. The curtain on the right and left shutters play the role of the scenes. Still life creates a sense of radiance, and this effect Falk achieves through the use of light, and with color variations. Color is used full, intense, pure. Colour do not cross each other and coexist, connect, keeping their own sound – no wonder bottle "singing".

By the way, only a love of music could compete in the heart of Falk painting. Like his contemporary Aristarchus Lentulov, Falk is very appreciated the musicality of the image. Successfully written about the picture, he sayl "color sing" but the painting generally considered "music for the eyes". Indeed, his paintings are extremely rhythmical, and the rhythm-based gameplay, and the color. Falk told me that "hears" the sound of all the colors in the picture and what color palette it represents to the band. And that color skillfully the orchestra he conducted.
