In 1927 Ruben Zakharian graduated from the Leningrad vkhutein.
Was studied under Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin, Alexander Karev.

From 1918 to 1922 he studied at the school of Whose, in 1927 he graduated from the VHUTEIN in the Studio of A. E. Karev, V. E. Savinsky.
Participant of exhibitions since 1934. For Sahariana characterized by simplicity of composition, energetic color that, however, may be replaced by coloristic restraint. Particular attention the artist has paid a fine study of light and air. Sahariana paintings reside in art museums of Yerevan, Tbilisi, in private collections in France, Germany, Italy, Japan, USA, Russia.
