He was born in 1838 in the town of Roslavl in middle class family. From 1854 to 1869 was volnoprihodyaschim student of the Academy of arts. Over the years of study received medals: in 1862 - 2 silver; in 1863 - 2 silver; in 1865 - two 1 silver; in 1866, 1 silver. In 1867, for the song "Death" was awarded a gold academic medal. In 1869 he graduated from the Academy with the title of class artist of 2 nd degree, and in 1880 the portrait of N. Melnikov received the title of class artist 1-th degree. From 1860 he participated in academic exhibitions, showing portraits and illustrations to the works of Russian writers and poets, as well as drawings on biblical subjects. Wrote icons, made paintings of the temples. The most famous work of V. Kryukova — portraits Pechkovskii, archeologist Botta, as well as the series of paintings "Paintings for visual teaching of the sacred history of the old and New Testament" and "Pictures for the initial rate Law of God" that are stored in the prints Department of the Leningrad Public library.
