Biography and information

He was a volunteer at the Academy of Arts from 1866 to 1874; in 1868 - 2 silver medals; in 1869 received the silver medal of the second and first dignity, in 1872, a prize of 100 rubles for the sketch "the Flood"; in 1881 was awarded the title of class artist of the 3rd degree. (Kondakov)

(24.08.1846, S. Saygatka Sarapul uyezd, Vyatka lips. (now the Tchaikovsky Perm. region) – 1900, Irkutsk). Painter. Since 1866, the volunteer, in 1868-1874, he was student of the St. Petersburg Acad. of arts. In 1868, 1869, he received two second silver medals for the sketch and drawing from life, 1870, 1871, – the first two silver medals in 1881 - the title of class artist. In 1867, he made a trip to the city of Kungur of the Perm province., in 1868 in the town of Irbit. In Acad. he made academic work: drawings, oil sketches, the song "the Flood," "David before Saul". Influenced by democratic ideas of the progressive Russian intelligentsia. Crucial for him was the friendship with the artists of the "society for traveling art exhibitions" in the first place with I. N. Kramskoy. Worked in the city of Perm in the painting workshop of V. P. Kashin. In the late. In the 1870s he moved to Siberia, travels on the edge, exploring the life of the people, gathering material for works. In the 1870s turned to the images of real life in the works of "Rural teacher", "he" (1873), "Guitarist". Participated in the work on the paintings of the Church of the Annunciation and the Cathedral of the ascension in Irkutsk. Performed drawings for the St. Petersburg journal. "Bee", "Horizon", etc. Taught drawing in the Yenisei men's gymnasia (1874), the public schools of the city of Orenburg (1870s) and Irkutsk (1881-1890-it.).
