In the summer of 1886, a friend of AP Ryabushkina writer and musician I.F. Tyumneev (1861–1904) acquired in the Novgorod province, not far from the station Lyuban, the estate “Privolie”. A.P. Ryabushkin was a frequent guest of Tyumneev, he lived in his estate for a long time, where he worked a lot. Most likely, the picture was acquired from I.F. Tyumneev, the owner of the depicted estate. It can also be assumed that it depicts the children of I.F. Tyumneev.

The work participated in the spring exhibition at the Academy of Arts, in 1888, under the number 505.
