Matveyevich Ivanov

He studied at the Academy of fine Arts (1874-84) M. A. Shishkova. Received medals in 1880 - 2 and 1 silver; in 1881 - a large silver; in 1884 - the title of class artist of 3 degrees.

In 1883-1908 decorator at the St. Petersburg Imperial theatres Board,participated in Oakton the design of the Mariinsky theatre (the choreographer.M. I. Petit-pas): "La Bayadere" (1884, 1900; in 1904, Big t-R),"Magic pill" (1886), "the Sleeping beauty" (1890), "the King of Kandal"(1891), "the Nutcracker" (1st and 3rd picture, 1892), "the humpbacked Horse" (1895),"Bluebeard" (1896), Raymonda (2nd action, 1898), Stream (1902).Master architectural perspective of the scenery. Adhered to a conservative household and historical trends in scenography. The best works of Ivanov (design 2 third act of the Sleeping beauty, highly appreciated by A. N. Benoit) had great artistic expression. Invented the inks conducive to long-term preservation of decorative painting. In 1896-1902 he taught at the Drawing school of the society for the encouragement of arts in St. Petersburg.
