"The dome and swallows" one of the most famous and touching works sergianopoulos cycle of Konstantin Yuon. "Character and beauty" that's what he wanted to reflect in his paintings, he said. The characteristic relate to the life, course of life, observed that he had interesting, but sad and painful, and "contemplation of the sky and nature – always (been) exalted blessing and praise". These words best describe the painting Konstantin Yuon "Domes and swallows".
Huon loved Sergiev Posad, repeatedly came back, lived for a long time, wrote a multitude of species. According to him, in Sergiev Posad, he found "everything I was looking for" – looking in nature and loved the pictures Serov, Surikovand Levitan.
The sky occupies a large part of the canvas. Captivates with its cleanliness and blue – special, yanovskoe, the endless sky, which turns a lot of swallows. And that somehow joy and light in my soul like the sun (not visible to us, but clearly present in the picture) will always be, and no death at all. Very touching and true it seems the shadow of the cross falling on the Central gilded dome. The rest of the dome is white with gold stars (now the dome of the assumption Cathedral of blue).
It seems that on top of the paint the artist has covered the picture of grace is so life-affirming, joyful she felt. Like not just the sky with domes and swallows wrote, and the door is in the heaven, the blessing and the triumphant joy of being opened. Perhaps it is lucky enough for a prosperous life, a happy childhood or just in the specific character, allowing you to see everywhere the joy of life, but this life-affirming tone inherent in most of the paintings of Konstantin Yuon. Looking at "the Dome and swallows", the viewer does not think about the earthly realities, for example, that by the time the Laurel pattern for a year was closed because the authorities launched a relentless struggle against the Church. In the premises the laurels placed by various institutions, including the Museum of history and art.
Huon wrote to the Church often. It's not his devoutly religious and not anti-Soviet position. The artist was totally indifferent to bright, exotic landscapes, not impressed with it either hot Italy or Ivan the Caucasus. His source of inspiration – Central Russian landscape. And it is no wonder that so often in the paintings of Konstantin Yuon, we see the Church. Moscow, Novgorod, Pskov, Rostov – favorite places of the artist. Churches, temples, bell towers are not just inscribed in these landscapes, they can say, organize. And – allow you to switch the perception of "a tone higher". If the dome against the sky – there, the houses seem very toy. Here reigned the spirit and the swallows, "blessing and praise".
