There are very few machine tools. A large number of graphic and pictorial works of the artist died during a fire. A versatile personality, a key figure in the Ukrainian art of the first half and mid-twentieth century.

Painter, People's Artist of the USSR (1944). He studied at the Moscow Higher Art College (1922-1924) under A.D. Drevina and N.A. Udaltsova. He taught at the Kiev Art Institute (1946 - 1950, professor since 1947). As a theater artist (from 1914), he was influenced by stylistic tendencies and constructivism.

From the first half of the 1930s, he created mainly colorful costumes and three-dimensional scenery in a picturesque and decorative manner, based on a deep study of Ukrainian folk art and life.
