Russia • 1889−1918

Born in the Crimea in Sevastopol. Intelligent large Karaite family, all the children received a good education. In childhood, little Mike loved to draw galloping horses. Later, the "quick pencil" will be a distinctive style of the artist.

In the hometown of Michael over the panorama "defense of Sevastopol" worked for F. A. Roubaud, who have shown the boy his drawing teacher, a graduate of the St. Petersburg Academy of arts N.M. The Yanyshev, and F. A. Rubo, who taught at that time at the Munich Academy of fine arts, says M. Casas to continue their education there.

In Munich M. Casas portrays the artistic world of its inhabitants, portraits of fellow students, street scenes.

In 1910, he arrived in Sevastopol on vacation, where three artists-Amateurs having his single lifetime "Exhibition of 4". There are photographs of this exhibition.

In 1911 he finishes the Munich Academy of fine arts and France. All this time the material support it provided big brother. This is followed by a journey to the Caucasus in Petersburg to get acquainted with Russian art.

In 1914, with the first mobilization Michael Casas falls into the army. Colleagues protected him talent, he is able to draw in difficult wartime conditions. From this time there were some pictures that he took with him a 10-day vacation in February 1918.

February 23, 1918 the artist's life ended tragically, he was shot in Sevastopol, in many other Russian officers of the black sea fleet.

Simferopol art Museum is the sole owner of the greater part of the heritage of the artist, which in 1966 donated his younger sister Alexandra M. Casas. Mostly graphic work, some beautiful, early scrapbooks, and photographs. In the years of revolution and war it has maintained the collection, saved from fire and bombing.

Most of the works performed in the period from 1909 to 1914, when the young artist was only 20-25 years. One of the best cycles are the illustrations for "Word about Igor's regiment". A contemporary of M. Vrubel, close in spirit to his art and artists "World of art", absorbed the ideas of Russian and Western Modernism, using traditions of the East, Michael Casas easy to put together and embodied in his work the trends of a new era.

In 2008, turned 90-years of his tragic death - death in 1918 in Sevastopol. Michael Casas lived for almost 29 years.

2010 anniversary - the 100-fly in a single lifetime "Exhibition of 4" opened in Sevastopol, in 1910, with friends, artists-Amateurs.
