Biography and information

The representative of Russian modernism, known at the turn of XIX-XX centuries for its landscapes, genre scenes and portraits.

Studied at the Central school of technical drawing (1896-1900), the Academy of arts under A. I. Kuindzhi and Vasily mathe (1900-1902), in Munich from sh holloshi (1902-1904), R. Julien and F. colarossi in Paris (1905).

Until 1920 he lived and worked in St. Petersburg, and from 1920 – 1939 in Tallinn, Estonia, where he opened a painting Studio.

Since 1900 the participant of exhibitions of the Imperial Academy of arts, Society russkis watercolorists, the Partnership of artists traveling exhibitions.

Member of the society Kuindzhi (1909-1920).

Member of the standing Committee of the Society Roerich (Tallinn, 1937), which included well-known Estonian artists: E. Tasca, A. Starkopf, J., Grinberg, I. Vazar, A. Tamm, R. Nieman. Its major task the Committee has set the promotion of the ideas of the movement for the preservation of folk cultural heritage.

In 1939, the artist emigrated to Germany.

The artist's works are kept in museums and private collections.
