Biography and information

Studied art in Kiev and Paris. Included in the "World of art", each A. Benoit, et al. well. "World of art" and "Art treasures of Russia". After the departure of Benoit abroad (1926) kept his files. Expert and research services. Russian and Western European drawing. In 1918-39 worked in the Hermitage from 1918 head. otd. the figure, from 1930 head. restoration workshops. The author of picturesque architecture. landscapes of St. Petersburg, Venice, etc.. Tr. on issues of Russian and Western European art, including the book. "Mikhail Vrubel" (1911), article in the book. "The Russian academic art school in the eighteenth century" (1934).

Born in the village of Galice, Kiev region, Tetiivske R-na (Ukraine).

1882-1887 — studied painting in the iconographic school of Kiev-Pechersk Lavra.

1887-1894 — continues training in Kiev, in the Drawing school of N. I. Murashko, took lessons from N. N. GE, helped M. A. Vrubel in the paintings of Vladimir Cathedral in Kiev.

1900 — lived and worked in St. Petersburg, published articles on questions of Russian and Western European art, was a great connoisseur and collector of Western European drawings.

1904-1908 — abroad, mainly in Paris, worked in the entreprise Sergei Diaghilev, sketches Golovin wrote the scenery for the Opera "Boris Godunov" by Mussorgsky on the stage of the Parisian "Grand Opera".

Participant of exhibitions organized by artistic Association "World of art", in particular, at the exhibition in 1903 represented a large mural of "Diana bathing" (design of A. N. Benoit), executed in the tradition of the old masters.

A member of the "Union of Russian artists".
1918 — head of the Department of drawings of the Hermitage.
1930 — head of the restoration workshop of the Hermitage.
