Born in the town of Kokhma of the Ivanovo-Voznesensk industrial region. Member of the Union of artists of Russian Federation since 1968. In the years 1947-1952 he studied at the Palekh art school. Teacher - I. P. Vakurov, D. N. Butorin, N. M.Zinoviev. Since 1952 worked at the Palekh artists Association (later the Palekh art-production workshops). Died 28 APR 1997, buried in Palekh.
Themes of works: folklore, genre scenes. Participated in exhibitions since 1954. The work of M. A. Katunina are stored in museums: gmpi, the Russian Museum, the Ivanovo OC, GIM, GMAN, HF Russia.
