In 1947 he graduated from the Moscow State Art Institute. V. I. Surikov (teachers I. E. Grabar, S. V. Gerasimov). Thesis – "L. N. Tolstoy and Gorky in Gaspe".
Fame brought the author of genre paintings: "A. M. Gorky reads the play "the lower depths" actors Art theatre", "Mayakovsky, Sergei Yesenin".
Alexey Kirillov – one of the few artists who Supreme Soviet of the USSR was instructed to sketch the funeral of Stalin in 1953.
The artist's paintings are in the collections of the State Tretyakov Gallery, art museums of Nizhny Novgorod, Bryansk and other Russian cities.
