Graphic artist, poster artist, artist of film and cinema. He studied at the school of E.Zvantseva and D.Kardovsky in St. Petersburg, in 1911-17 - in St. Petersburg. AH at V. Mate. Since 1909, a participant in exhibitions. The artist of the "left" direction, since 1918 a member of the Union of Youth Society. In 1918-21 he taught in Petrograd. VKHUTEMAS. In 1920-21 the head. Petrogr. branch of "WINDOWS GROWTH". Later he lived in Moscow, worked in Moscow. and leningrad. t-rakh and on the K.-st. Easel graphics, book. ill., posters, festive decoration of columns and districts of Leningrad, decoration of the theater. performances, K.-F. and other work.

In 1907 he entered St. Petersburg in the Drawing School of the Society for the Promotion of Arts, and then in a private school of painting E. Zvantseva, where he studied under L. Bakst and M. Dobuzhinsky. He studied in the studio of D. Kardovsky.

1911-1917 he studied at the Higher Art School at the Academy of Arts under V. Mate.

At the end of 1900 he traveled to Austria, Germany, France.

In 1909-1910, he exhibited his works for the first time at the exhibition of the Triangle group.

1922-1923 Member of the Association of New Trends in Art, Union of Soviet Artists (1930-1932).

1922 Exhibitor of the First Russian Art Exhibition in Berlin.

1928, Cologne - exhibition "European Book Art of the Present".

He began working in the theater since 1916. He designed performances at the Leningrad Drama Theater. A.S. Pushkin, Maly Theater, Bolshoi Theater, Theater. Lenin Komsomol, Moscow Art Theater.
