Portrait painter, author of paintings on mythological and religious subjects. The son and disciple of the Austrian court artist A. I. von Prenner (1683-1761). In 1742 he went to Italy, worked in Rome, has created a number of altar compositions for the Roman churches. In 1750, on the recommendation of count N. Bjelke, which M. I. Vorontsov requested a "strong shoulder" for the Imperial court, came to St. Petersburg. With the artist has been contracted for three years. In 1762-1766 he worked in Rome, wrote altar image for Roman churches, the paintings on ancient stories.
