Grigorievich Krichevsky

Ukraine • 1872−1952

Painter, graphic artist, architect, master of decorative and applied art. The landscape of high scenic culture (steppe and urban landscapes, views of Crimea and the Dnieper). One of the authors of the architectural complex of "Tarasov's Tomb" in Kano. One of the founders of the Ukrainian Academy of arts, Professor (1917-22). In 1943 he emigrated. Died in Caracas (Venezuela), buried in new Jersey (USA). The works are mostly in foreign collections, in the Ukrainian Museum in new York and the National Museum of Ukrainian art in Kiev.

Vasiliy Grigorevich Krichevskiy in creativity was multifaceted. Worked as architect: building survived the Zemstvo in Poltava was built according to his design. Now there is the Poltava local history Museum. He was a talented graphic designer. Vasily Krichevsky can be called the author of the first Ukrainian hryvnia: he developed sketches for banknotes by order of the government of the UPR and of the President HRUSHEVSKY. After the events of this circumstance could not work in favor of the artist and all his relatives. Fortunately or unfortunately, the brothers after the revolution was abroad, the family gradually spread, and all the relatives subsequent fate, as they say, countries and continents.
