A pupil of K. Malevich and Mikhail Matyushin. Studied at Vitebsk Higher art school at Academy of arts in Petrograd. Along with L. Lissitzky (El Lissitzky) and N. M. Solinym was a member of the group "Affirmative new art" (UNOVIS) in Vitebsk, and one of the members of the Institute of artistic culture (INKHUK) in Petrograd. Not directly borrowing ideas and techniques of the luminaries of the avant-garde, the artist preferred the freedom of the visual vocabulary. Participated in many exhibitions.
The editorial works are in State Russian Museum and in private collections of Moscow and St. Petersburg.
