Born in a merchant family, and at the end of the St. Petersburg commercial school from 1901 to 1908 he studied at the Higher art school at Academy of arts, the famous sculptor V. A. Beklemishev. On the recommendation of the last Malyshev was enrolled on 16 November 1907 at a Junior medallist of the mint. 25 Nov 1908 Malyshev sent abroad for improvement in the art of medal design.
Malyshev after his dismissal from government service following November 20 1914, his further activity as a medalist was entirely to the private Studio of A. the Zhakar. This company Malyshev began working in 1912.
