Worked mainly in the field of genre painting. He studied at the drawing school of N. I. Murashko in Kiev, in Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture in the Studio of I. E. Repin Academy of arts. On the road shows played from 1903 to 1923 (1904-member of the Association) paintings truthfully depicting peasant life. After the revolution made a significant contribution to the development of Soviet art, in particular of genre painting (the painting "the Meeting of the Committee of the poor," "County Registrar"), was a member of AHRR. In the first years of Owls. power along with hood. activities actively worked as a propagandist, designed the roar. festivals, clubs, theatre work in Maksatikha, participated in the activities of the peasants. M. - one of the org-tori and teacher of the Free state art workshops at the cottage "Chayka" (1918-21) participated in the 1st exhibition of Peredvizhniki in Tver (1919). In Tver. region art gallery, over 40 M. works, including: "the window. Portrait of V. V. Ushakova" (1907), "the Old hall.
