Biography and information

[3(15).8.1866, Mtskheta - 25.12.1933, Tbilisi], the Georgian painter, the representative realist, the democratic trend in the national art of the late 19th and early 20th centuries Studied (1884-90) at the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture, and in Paris at the académie Julian (1898-1901). Experienced the impact of the Wanderers. M. devoted to the main theme of the predicament of the peasantry in pre-revolutionary Georgia. Works: paintings "rural office" (1899), "Low fence" (1901), "Collecting taxes" (1900-ies), Fig. "The life of a farmer" (1905), etc. - all in the art Museum of the Georgian SSR, Tbilisi.
