Biography and information

After attending Sunday drawing school, he entered in 1859 at the Academy of arts, from which he graduated in 1872, in the title of the class artist third degree for the painting "Grandfather grandson cradles, bookstore Glazunov", etc. In the next year, a study from nature, "the old Man" on the academic exhibition he was awarded the title of class artist of the second degree. The title of the class artist of the first degree A. A. Naumov gets in 1874, for the painting "Smoky hut," and "the Capuchin Monk". He works in genre painting, portraits-composition, participates in the academic and international exhibitions. So, at the world exhibition in Philadelphia, the artist presented paintings of "Cournot hut", "Shepherd boy", "orphan", "Farewell to the pancake week in Tiflis." The most famous painting by A. A. Naumov - "Duel of Pushkin" (1884), in which the artist conveys his vision of the fateful events in the life of the poet and the whole of Russian society. The painting was purchased by Grand Duke Nikolai Mikhailovich and donated to the Imperial Alexander Lyceum. Most of the artist's works are distinguished by sincerity and portrayed a quiet sympathy for its characters. In addition to art work of A. A. Naumov lot of time teaching, teaching drawing and painting students of the St. Petersburg gymnasiums.
