Yanovich Osis

Painter. Member of the Union of artists of the USSR.

The first skills in painting acquired from his uncle, the painter A. Stunda.

In 1951 he graduated from the Latvian Academy of art with degree work "Latvian fishermen" (under the guidance of E. Kalnins). This work was exhibited in the 8th international Biennale in Venice (1956) and to be in the Tretyakov gallery.

In exhibitions the artist has participated since 1951.

Personal exhibitions are organized in Krasnoyarsk and Tomsk (1971, together with S. Kreutz, and A. à. Zviedris), Lielupe (1972), Ventspils (1972, 1978).

J. Osis was a member of the Union of artists since 1956.

The artist worked as a teacher at the Riga art school of J. Rozentals.

He was awarded the 3rd prize in the competition of art educational institutions in Moscow (1950), silver medal "For the best work of visual art" and diploma of the 2nd degree of the Academy of arts of the USSR (1958).
